Exceptional "belle époque" Tablecloth, Entirely In Luxeuil Lace, 180 Cm X 280 Cm.
A magnificent tablecloth made entirely of Luxeuil lace, dating from the Belle Époque (c. 1900–1920). It likely originated in the town of Luxeuil-les-Bains, France—a center that flourished between the Second Empire and the early 20th century, when thousands of lacemakers crafted such prestigious pieces for upper-bourgeois families. The workmanship is incredibly fine, featuring an interplay of sinuous Art Nouveau-style floral motifs, dense *point d'esprit* (dotted) stitches, and airy "spiderweb" decorative elements. Hundreds of hours of collective labor went into creating this pristine white showpiece. It is in good condition, despite a single repair—visible primarily when held against the light—and a few missing connecting threads that could be restored with patience. The dimensions are exceptional—180 cm x 280 cm—for a piece that is entirely handmade.
