Beautiful 1940s-50s "yo-yo Quilt" Throw.
A throw or bedspread made from a patchwork of small, brightly colored cotton pieces. This "yo-yo" textile art technique emerged in the United States during the Great Depression of 1929. It is a handcrafted method involving cutting small circles from scrap cotton fabric, gathering the edges to form small pleated rosettes, and then stitching them together by hand. Each yo-yo measures 3 to 3.5 cm in diameter; the arrangement is random rather than geometric. The throw measures 172 cm x 220 cm and is in very good condition, featuring very vivid, cheerful colors.
