Cavalry: Set Of 2 Horse Mane Combs, France, 19th Century
Cavalry: Set of two horse mane combs, one made of wrought iron and the other of brass, France, first half of the 19th century. Very good condition, with a lovely and appealing antique patina.
According to research, it appears that the holes at the top were used to clean the buttons on uniforms. Once the buttons were slipped inside, they were securely held in place, allowing them to be scrubbed thoroughly without risking the seam coming apart.
Dimensions:
Wrought iron model: L 11 cm, H 6.5 cm
Brass model: L 10.5 cm, H 6 cm
