City Honor Guard Standard Eagle, Model 1804, First Empire. 33698(19465) Chiseled and gilded bronze eagle with outstretched wings, holding in its talons the shining thunderbolt of Jupiter. Height 17 cm, width 12.5 cm, thickness 3.3 cm. Mounted on a case decorated with the number "2" on the front against a sandblasted background. Case height 3.7 cm, maximum width 8.3 cm, thickness 3.7 cm. The case is mounted on a socket. Height 5.3 cm, diameter at its center 2.5 cm, diameter at its base 2.9 cm. France. First Empire. Perfect condition, the eagle has retained all its gilding. NOTE: This eagle comes from the former Bernard Franck collection, 1935. This model of eagle is not regulation; its quality of chasing, its mounting, and its gilding allow it to be attributed to the First Empire period. Its small size suggests it could belong to the 2nd squadron of a town honor guard, of which there were many during the First Empire.
