An exceptional and rare Empire-period secretary desk, made circa 1810, veneered with magnificent mahogany featuring richly figured grain and adorned with elegant gilded bronze hardware. This remarkable piece exemplifies the refinement of early 19th-century cabinetmaking, combining monumental design with perfectly engineered functionality.

The secretary features a characteristic upper section with a central door that retains its original lock and key. Below are three narrow drawers with brass knobs, providing access to a richly organized interior. This interior comprises a central compartment flanked by small drawers and compartments, providing ideal storage space for writing instruments, documents, and correspondence.

The drop-down lid reveals an elegant writing surface veneered in cherry wood, meticulously crafted. The front is enhanced by delicate brass moldings, decorative rosettes, lion-head finials, and other gilded bronze ornaments that highlight the piece’s richness and elegance.
