Louis XVI-period Walnut Chest Of Drawers With Marquetry, Central Europe, Circa 1800

An exceptional original neoclassical chest of drawers, crafted from walnut veneer with superb grain and dating from the early 19th century. The overhanging top sits above three large drawers, each adorned with panels framed by delicate fillet marquetry. The front is enlivened by a slight central projection, creating an elegant architectural effect that emphasizes the balance of its composition.

The sides are equally refined, adorned with large veneered panels framed by matching fillet marquetry, attesting to the quality of craftsmanship from every angle. The chest retains its original brass hardware, its original chest locks, and its three original keys.

The piece has undergone a restoration that respects its authenticity and has been entirely hand-polished using the traditional shellac buffing technique, highlighting the depth and warmth of the walnut veneer while preserving its antique character. Condition
