Italian Chest Of Drawers In Wood Marquetry, Circa 1800
Interesting Italian chest of drawer in the manner of Maggiolini. Beautiful marquetry, the chest is on high feet making it quiet high. Top veneered as well. The geometrical ornements makes it "moderne" for the time. Beautifully restaured by professional hands.
Size: H 90 cm x W 130 cm x D 63cm
Italy, circa 1800.
Lit: Giuseppe Maggiolini (Parabiago 1738 - 1814) was an Italian cabinetmaker, of the late Baroque and especially Neo-Classical current. Although he is historically remembered as ‘Master of marquetry’, it is more correct to define him as ‘Master in cabinetmaking’, since in marquetry other materials (such as ivory) are added to wood.
