Biedermeier-style Cherrywood Writing Desk, Germany, Circa 1820
Biedermeier-style writing desk on tapered square legs, featuring a three-drawer base and a writing surface with flat flap. Above is a large drawer housing a black leather writing surface with compartments for pens and inkwells. The cabinet is topped by a stepped top with an additional drawer. The interior features a large storage compartment, six drawers and a central section with three arched openings and further compartments, which can be removed to reveal additional hidden compartments. The desk is veneered in cherry wood and adorned with blackened rectangular rosettes. The writing surface is covered in black leather. Professionally restored and polished by hand.
