Kazak Prayer Rug, 113 X 152 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool From The Caucasus, 1860–1900, In Good Condition

Artist: Kazaks Du Caucase
Mid-19th-century Kazak prayer rug.
A beautiful antique collector’s rug.

While there is some wear, it allows us to imagine the devotion of the man who owned this piece.
Made of wool on wool and originating from the high mountains of the Caucasus,
this piece measures 113 cm wide by 152 cm long.
In collectible condition, this authentic artifact of Caucasian culture captivates us with its intricate patterns.
At the top of each side of the geometric mihrab are two highly stylized Hands of Fatima that look strikingly similar to combs.
Within the niche is a rectangle with a white background—the Eye of God—surmounting a comb, an object used for carding wool, as well as numerous stylized flowers.
In the center of the niche are two imposing red and almond-green medallions arranged like two rhombuses, which can be called “mahitouhouse.”

The bold colors are typical of the Caucasus:
red, green, black, ivory, and a touch of orange; they frame the Kazak rugs and are tastefully arranged, lending a cheerful appearance to this type of piece.
Green, which is rarely used in prayer rugs, is present in our model (the color of Muhammad’s robe);
however, Caucasian rugs occasionally—though rarely—feature this shade.
The main border features a design of stylized eight-petaled flowers, flanked on both sides by two pretty gray braids against a red background.

For collectors, this lovely piece is in its original condition and of very high quality!
This rug has been professionally cleaned using eco-friendly methods.
