Enameled and gilded crystal vase attributed to Legras – Montjoye Saint-Denis, circa 1900

An elegant, slightly curved quadrangular vase, crafted from thick crystal and adorned with a remarkable Renaissance-inspired gold-enameled decoration, combining foliage, fleurons, and arabesques of great finesse.

The quality of the glass, the richness of the enamel work, and the style of the decoration suggest that this piece is closely related to the productions of the Legras – Montjoye Saint-Denis Crystal Works, leading French manufacturers of the Art Nouveau period. Although unsigned, this vase exhibits all the characteristics of the high-end creations from this prestigious house.

The hand-executed decoration plays beautifully with the crystal’s transparency and demonstrates exceptional skill in the art of fire-gilding. This elegant, architecturally inspired shape—which is quite uncommon—makes it a refined decorative piece that will naturally find its place in a collection of Belle Époque French glassware.

The condition is very good. We should simply note a tiny chip of about 1 mm on the upper rim, which is very discreet and barely visible once the vase is displayed, and has no impact on its overall aesthetic.
