A magnificent kilim from Bergama / Balikesir in northwestern Turkey.
The main feature of this kilim is its exclusive use of two colors: deep blue and carmine red. Some patterns are accented with a white cotton border.
The motif winding across the central field, which appears to be biting its own tail, is that of a dragon.
The colors are rich and saturated, creating a beautiful sense of depth across the entire surface.
