A theater artist and set designer, Louis-Jacques Vigon took part in Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes in London. He socialized with Juan Gris, Francis Picabia, and Albert Gleizes at the Bateau Lavoir and worked for the Paris Opera and the Opéra-Comique. He then returned to Rouen, where he painted primarily views of the city and, more rarely, seascapes and portraits.
