A Significant Set Of 3 Large Bronze Church Candlesticks - Baroque Style

Set of three large church/altar candlesticks made of solid bronze. This religious art object has a remarkable presence and a patina of great depth, ideal for enhancing a classic interior, a cabinet of curiosities, or a castle-like atmosphere.

Material: High-quality solid bronze. The antique patina (brown and gold) is superb, revealing magnificent textural contrasts between the shiny reliefs and the dark backgrounds.

Shaft: Exquisitely turned and cast, adorned with gadrooned motifs (rounded reliefs), molded bands, and baluster sections.

Tripod Base: A curved triangular base inspired purely by the Baroque style. Each side is richly carved with a central medallion in a leaf-adorned cartouche and volutes. The base rests elegantly on three legs shaped like lion’s claws.

Upper Section: A wide bowl (basin) with a fluted rim designed to collect wax, surmounted by an imposing conical metal spike to securely hold a large candle.

Dated to the late 18th or early 19th century.
