Flat-topped Desk, Made Of Mahogany And Veneer, Early 19th Century
A very elegant piece dating from the very early 19th century.
It stands on four pyramidal legs with bronze feet.
It features four drawers on the front, including one double-height drawer with a drop-down compartment and a storage compartment.
This is a center desk, meaning its ornamentation extends across all sides with faux drawers on the back; it can therefore be used as a reception desk.
Two pull-out shelves expand the workspace.
The writing surface is covered in green leather with a design engraved using a gold-leafing tool. The leather is in good condition, with a few stains and creases.
The piece is in good household condition; it is a functional piece that has been in use for many years, so it shows some signs of wear, but these are consistent with its use and age.
Dates from the early 19th century.
