Large Pair Of Neo-rocaille Porcelain Trumpet Vases, Probably From Limoges, Circa 1850–1870

A large pair of white porcelain conical vases, featuring a dynamic, scalloped shape, crafted in the Neo-Rocaille style in the mid-19th century.

Each vase features on its main face a large bouquet of polychrome flowers painted from life, consisting notably of roses, pansies, carnations, and various other flowers, in a particularly fresh and delicate color palette.

The decoration is enhanced by abundant gilding, forming foliage motifs, arabesques, and rocaille ornaments. The sides are enlivened by remarkable foliated branches in high relief, heavily gilded, whose leaves feature an elegant design of recessed veins.

The upper section features a particularly spectacular shape, with a wide, flared, and scalloped neck, extended at the back by a high rocaille backrest richly decorated with gold. The base, equally ornate, is adorned with foliage and gilded motifs.

The reverse, more understated, features a design of branches and foliage traced in gold.

French work from the mid-19th century, likely Limoges, circa 1850–1870.

A very beautiful decorative set due to its proportions, its dynamic form, and the richness of its ornamentation.

Good overall condition. No damage, no breakage, and no restoration.
The only point to note is more pronounced wear on the gilding of one of the two vases, as shown in the photographs.
