"Henri Ardant Psyche Bowl In Limoges Porcelain Biscuit "
Large openwork covered potpourri bowl in biscuit porcelain with matte enameled painted decoration, attributed to the Henri Ardant factory around 1860-1880. No visible maker's mark. An identical model in white is in the collections of the Adrien Dudouché Museum in Limoges. Round bowl on a gadrooned foot, with scroll handles, surmounted by an openwork lid. The finial depicts Psyche seated on a rock. The decoration is in an eclectic style inspired by the 18th century, featuring scrolls, garlands of roses, quivers, and knots. The Ardant factory, founded in 1858, followed Henri Ardant's initial acquisition in 1854 of the former factory known as the Comte d'Artois factory. He then partnered with Bourdeau to acquire the factory at the Enclos des Augustins until 1879. Later, in partnership with Raymond Laporte, Ardant operated the factory on Boulevard Saint Maurice until his death in 1883. The original model of the Psyche bowl is based on the... Limoges museum label dated 1866. Good overall condition. All questions welcome.
