Three Pairs Of Faux-wood Lacquered Shutters, Red Trim, Florence, 19th Century
Three pairs of lacquered three-panel shutters, decorated using the "faux-wood" technique in a soft, light ochre tone with painted graining, and enhanced with Pompeian red borders. They retain their original hardware, along with some signs of wear that attest to their authenticity. These are most likely the original interior shutters from a grand villa in the Florentine hills, a typical feature of 19th-century Tuscan architectural decor, now much sought after for reinterpreting doors, built-in wardrobe fronts, or panelling in a vintage style.
