Antique Vicenza Stone Mortar With Four Lobes - Northern Italy, 19th Century
Large mortar in Vicenza stone from Northern Italy, dating to the 19th century, with the characteristic four-lobed form at the corners. The body, hand-carved from a single block of stone, has a porous, slightly irregular surface, with the typical patina and signs of wear from prolonged use. The gently tapered base gives the piece a solid, balanced stance and a sculptural presence. It lends itself perfectly as a decorative indoor object, as a planter or outdoor jardinière, or as a striking feature in a rustic or country-style setting.
Good state of preservation, with small chips consistent with its age and original use.
