Small Box Made Of Guilloché-engraved Solid Silver. Late 19th Century–early 20th Century?
A charming little box made entirely of silver, guilloché-engraved with a pattern of parallel ripples on the body and radiating motifs on the lid and base.
It likely dates from the very late 19th century or early 20th century.
The lid is marked “MB” in the center of an engraved frieze.
The box is hallmarked:
. A wild boar’s head for solid silver with a minimum fineness of 800/°°
. A very small silversmith’s mark to be identified: GC with a tree (?)
This box is particularly charming due to its small size and its all-over guilloché pattern, which catches the light.
