Louis XVI-style Box Set In Gilded Bronze And Mahogany
A rectangular Louis XVI-style mahogany box accented with gilded bronze. The base is encircled by a bronze band decorated with a cord motif and a row of pearls. This band also runs around the edge of the lid, the center of which is adorned with a finely chased bronze plaque featuring Louis XVI-style motifs: bouquets of flowers, olive branches, garlands, and a knotted ribbon complement the musical attributes: violin, lyre, tambourine... The entire piece displays exquisite chiseling! A beautiful openwork bronze lock face featuring a knotted ribbon design. The functional period lock has retained its original key. The interior is lined with red velvet that is very well preserved. A fabric label mentions the Dubost Desmaroux company in Moulins, Allier.
