Buccellati: Centerpiece That Doubles As A Serving Dish, "marina Coquillage" Model, Solid Silver. Italy
A stunning centerpiece created by the renowned Italian silversmith Gianmaria Buccellati.
This is the “Marina Coquillage Arche de Noé” model, consisting of a juxtaposition of seashells forming a centerpiece with multiple sections.
The Buccellati house was founded by Mario Buccellati in 1919. Nicknamed the “Prince of Silversmiths,” the house’s work is notably characterized by a rich, lace-like metal texture that creates plays of light and contrast recognizable at first glance.
The centerpiece is hallmarked:
. MC hallmark with a rocker-type stamp from the silversmith Clementi dì Giovanni Mantel & C.S.p.A., acquired by Buccellati in the 1980s.
. Italian fineness mark: 925 in an oval
. Silversmith’s hallmark: a star; the number 763; the letters MI for Milan.
. Spelled out in full: Buccellati
This centerpiece is a small masterpiece of silversmithing, featuring light-catching silverwork enhanced by a superb patina.
