Delft, 18th Century. Posset Pot

Here is a rather unusual piece from the extensive output of the Delft workshops.
Decorated with floral motifs in that instantly recognizable blue, it is a posset pot, originally intended for preparing a beverage made from curdled milk with medicinal properties.
Today, posset has evolved into an elegant, rich dessert with its own enigmatic, quintessentially British charm.
Inside the pot, on one side, there is a filter (which has often been removed from the surviving examples, as it was likely impractical).
The piece is sold as-is, complete, a rare artifact; the lid is cracked, and there is a missing section of decoration.Although the jar is in good condition, it also has a missing section of decoration on the body and some chipping on the base.
The price reflects these imperfections; it remains a rather rare piece, bearing witness to the historical connections between cooking and medicine.
