A hand-thrown porcelain vase in the Kabura-bin style, decorated in cobalt blue with an underglaze design of blooming peonies on a cream-glazed background. It has numerous firing flaws typical of this period. A Korean piece from the Bun-in kilns, which also produced royal porcelain. Joseon period, late dynasty, 19th century. Rare and little known in the West, these porcelain pieces are highly sought after in Japan for the tea ceremony (chanoyu). The rim is broken and was previously restored. Height: 21 cm.
