Two birds hand-carved, set against a hollowed-out trunk that holds the flared, wide-open vase; numerous floral and foliage motifs make up the design, the result of many hours of manual labor.
Various carving tools were used to create this piece, a true masterpiece of Hugler-style craftsmanship. Carved wooden objects known as “Black Forest” pieces originate from the Brienz region of Switzerland.
