The lid lifts to reveal several storage compartments.
Tramp Art (literally “Art of the Tramps” or “Art of the Vagabonds”) is a form of folk art combining woodcarving and woodworking that emerged in the United during the second half of the 19th century, and more specifically from the1870s through the 1940s.
It is a form of art found all over the world. It is considered naïve art or “folk art.” It consists of small pieces of wood—mainly from discarded cigar boxes, shipping crates, or fruit crates—arranged in layers, with the edges notched and stacked to create a variety of household objects.
Artists used tools such as pocket knives to carve the wood into utilitarian or decorative objects
Important notes on “Tramp Art”: It was the art of the everyday person, and no two objects are identical
