18th-century Polychrome Wooden Statuette Of A Female Saint
Polychrome wooden statuette of a female saint. This saint, with a full head of hair falling over her shoulders, is holding a cushion or a tray. There are no apparent clues on this object that would allow us to identify the saint. Mary? Agatha? The top of the skull is relatively flat and has a small hole in the center. This could be a hole for attaching a crown or a halo. The statuette has survived with a few minor damages and is missing one hand. This statuette has been repainted over time. The pleats on the dress and cape are beautifully rendered. The statuette has been securely mounted on a base.
