St. Notburga And St. Isidore, Patron Saints Of Agriculture, Tyrol, Around 1900

Carved and polychrome wood. The figures depict St. Notburga with her characteristic attributes—a sickle, a lantern, and a bunch of keys—as well as St. Isidore with his rake and hat. The two sculptures were originally designed as a pair and are among the rarest depictions of the patron saints of agriculture.

The original polychrome paint is largely preserved and shows signs of wear consistent with its age. A rare pair of folk devotional sculptures, likely originating from Tyrol.

St. Notburga:
Patron saint of domestic servants, maids, and agricultural labor.

St. Isidore the Farmer:
Patron saint of farmers and agricultural workers.
