Antique Bronze Sculpture Of A Frog On A Rock, Signed
A small, well-cast and finely-observed naturalistic, late 19th or early 20th-century bronze sculpture of a frog on a rock surrounded by foliage, 11 cm (4.3 in) high.
Maker’s marks: Signed at the front of the base, possibly in Cyrillic. Further letters (“CH”?) and a symbol or “1’ on the rock (se images).
Condition: Excellent. No damage or restoration.
Comments: As you may have realised, we know little about the origins of this sculpture. However, we do have a lot of experience recognising well-observed and cast bronzes, of which this is one.
