Suji bachi kabuto sign. "Joshu Ju Saotome Ieharu 常州住早乙女家春" , 18.century

A sixty-two-piece bowl in the sabiji style, signed on the inside, is topped with a five-piece tehen kanamono made of various metals, a larger fukigaeshi covered with printed egawa deerskin with decorative mimi ito lacing and metal gilded plaques in the form of "genjikō" characters, marking fragrance in the court game of recognizing scents called kadō. On the back of the bowl there is a ring for the identification flag kasa jirushi no kan with a decorative agemaki tassel. The five-piece shikoro is made of profiled, black-lacquered segments, laced with dark blue odoshi ito and topped with decorative mimi ito. The maedate helmet dekoration is made of gilded wood and is in the form of a demonic being kijin. Master Ieharu 家春 created it in Hitachi province around the Kanpo era寛保, (1741-1744) and is among the leading creators of this distinguished school.

The helmet is very beautiful, well preserved and represents a quality example of the characteristic work of the Saotome school from the middle Edo period.

Facial sabiji menpo in angry grimace ressei bó, Edo period (1603 - 1868)

in the me no shita bó design in the usual variant with a removable nose, very good patina, on the cheek there are pronounced shiwa wrinkles and profiled yadome plates, "arrow stoppers", five-piece yodare kake in black with decorative mimi ito lacing, the reverse side is gilded. The inner part of the mask is varnished in the conventional way with red varnish, the exposed teeth are silver.

The mask has a good expression and is very well preserved.
