François Linke Large Buffet Signed Louis XVI Style Late 19th Century
Remarkable and rare Louis XVI-style sideboard, made in France at the end of the 19th century by the famous cabinetmaker François Linke (1855-1946), bearing his engraved signature "F. Linke" on a gilded bronze bagette.
This large-scale piece of furniture, with its resolutely palatial character, is inlaid with mahogany wood. Linke" on an ormolu baguette.
This large-scale piece of furniture, with its resolutely palatial character, is inlaid with mahogany wood and richly adorned with chased and gilded bronzes of exceptional quality: fluted friezes, finely chased lock escutcheons, delicately carved rosettes and rings.
The top is topped with its original Breche Violette marble - a rare, thick, and sumptuously veined marble in shades of white, purple and gray, magnifying the whole with refinement.
The three casements are decorated with Chinoiserie-style scenes, painted in lacquer on a black background. They feature Far Eastern-inspired landscapes: figures conversing or strolling, a boat sailing past a traditional pavilion, a mountain in the distance. To the right, a scene of rest or music in front of a raised pagoda completes this dreamlike journey, all delicately framed in gilded bronze.
His side curved lines with open shelves, imposing stature and exceptional conservation condition make this a museum piece of furniture, perfectly suited to a princely interior or a 19th-century decorative art collection.
