Buffet Chest Of Drawers In Amboyna Burl And Rosewood, Louis XVI Style – Part 2 Of The 19th Century

This piece of furniture, made in Paris, opens at the waist with a large drawer in amboyna burl highlighted by a grooved rod and a rosewood strip. This drawer is fitted with an original lock with a posterior key and an applied entrance motif with foliage decoration. The interior in speckled maple is compartmentalized and has drawer units to protect against accidental falls. The lower part has a double door in amboyna veneer, with central panels, also highlighted by a rosewood strip, molded rods and rosettes. This opening is fitted with an original top and bottom lock, functional, with key and entry. The interior offers three English-style drawers in speckled maple with a rosewood front. The plinth also conceals a last drawer. The uprights are represented by turned, ringed and fluted columns with acanthus leaf motifs. The Carrara marble is semi-recessed and stepped. The frame, the parquet under the marble and the back are in oak. We will appreciate the choice of wood and the beautifully crafted columns of this decorative and very functional piece of furniture. ******** Period: 2nd Part of the 19th century Excellent condition.
