Bronze

Artist: Friedrich Beer
Bronze with bronze patina by Friedrich Beer (1846-1912), Franco-Austrian sculptor, trained in the prestigious school of fine arts in Vienna. The artist represents a student with long hair, poulaines on his feet and a purse on his belt. This young man, holding a book in his hand, sings to beg. This test rests on a pivoting base. It is annotated in a cartouche “Escholier du XVe siècle”, signed by the artist and bears the hallmark of the “Susse Frères Paris” foundry on the embankment. Through this bronze, Beer deals with the still very topical subject of the impoverishment of the student class. A profound work.
