Cherrywood Console Table, Louis XVI Style – Late 19th Century
This cherry console table opens at the waist with a drawer with a recessed front with molded baguette and drop handles. The spindle legs with stopped fluting and wooden asparagus are joined by a concave spacer shelf molded in a square and bec de corbin in its perimeter. The mitered top is surrounded by the same type of moldings. The upper part is darkened with a mercury mirror with an adjoining wooden frame. Mounted on two spindle columns, otherwise identical to the base, is a Carrara marble top highlighted by an openwork brass gallery. This cherry dressing table stands out of course for its small dimensions, but also for the beauty of its wood. ******** Period: Late 19th century Excellent condition.
