Traditional work from Southeast Asia, probably Thailand, Burma or Laos, dating from the mid-20th century.

This lightweight piece features a braided structure of plant fibers covered with a painted and lacquered coating.
The stylized blue floral decoration on a light background is reminiscent of Asian rural folk art.

The original lid is made from a single piece of wood.
