"Louis XV Style /transitional Norman Wardrobe – Circa 1780/1820 – Solid Oak – Demountable"
A superb Louis XV style/Transition style Norman wardrobe, crafted from solid oak around 1780–1820, showcasing the full decorative vocabulary characteristic of the great workshops of the Pays d'Auge and Roumois regions. The two doors feature intricately carved, high-relief panels, typical of the late Louis XV style. The vertical stiles are adorned with molded trim and a central circular motif, a common detail on high-quality bourgeois pieces. The richly molded, projecting cornice emphasizes the imposing silhouette of the whole. The original hardware, carved in arabesques, is particularly striking. The large lower drawer harmoniously complements the base of the piece. The interior reveals traditional joinery techniques (mortise and tenon joints, floating panels), guaranteeing authentic craftsmanship. Like other large Norman wardrobes, this wardrobe is fully demountable, facilitating transport and installation. Note: minor wear on the lower right section, without any structural weakness. A beautiful, characterful piece of furniture, sound and stable, made of dense, patinated oak. – Height: 225 cm – Body width: 144 cm – Width at base: 150 cm – Cornice width: 165 cm. An ideal piece for a charming home, a classic decor, or an interior blending antique and contemporary styles.
