Candlestick With Mythical Creatures, China, Ming Dynasty, 16th Century.
Bronze altar candlestick resting on three feet. Each foot is adorned with the head of a mythical horned creature. The feet curve downwards, ending in simplified hooves or scrolls. Above the monsters' heads is a ring of stylized lotus petals - a motif deeply rooted in Buddhist iconography. The upper and lower cups are also in the shape of a six-petal lotus flower. The candlestick consists of three elements, with traces of soldering between them.

Good condition, ear of one of the beasts broken off, visible traces of soldering between the elements.
