Assiette Du Service Des Princes De Louis XVIII / Service Des Grands Officiers Napoléon I Sèvres

Dessert plate from the service des Princes of Louis XVIII and probably formerly from the service des Grands Officiers of Napoleon I in Sèvres porcelain.

This plate is probably part of the service created for Napoleon, formerly adorned with the N in the center, which was retained under the Restoration and sent back to Sèvres to remove the imperial cipher and mark on the back and replace them with the cipher of Louis XVIII.

The stigmata of this change of regime can be clearly seen on the back, making this transfuge piece both curious and rare.

The "Grands Officiers" service created under the Empire and renamed the "Princes" service under the Restoration was used in all the royal residences, with the same gold decoration of semis and a myrtle garland. Under the July monarchy, Louis-Philippe gathered all the pieces of this service at the Château de Compiègne and assigned them to him as an official service, ordering a renewed decoration of the "Princes" service for his other residences, adorned with a frieze of ivy replacing the myrtle and without a seedling background.

Old Sèvres mark erased on the back, replaced by the Louis XVIII period mark in blue. Gilder's date "28 S (?) 15" for 1815.
Piece therefore from the Empire period, and redecorated at Sèvres for the monogram in 1815.

Good overall condition, wear to the gilding. It can be assumed that the redecorations were not carried out using the same technique as the first decoration, as wear is quite common to royal numerals that have suffered the same fate.
