Silver Dish With The Coat Of Arms Of Louis-philippe Duc d'Orléans By Odiot 19th Century - Restoration Period

Silver demi-creux plate engraved with the arms of Louis-Philippe duc d'Orléans under crown of prince of the blood and background of bundles of flags.
Early 19th-century work by silversmith Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot.

The Odiot archives mention on July 11, 1817 that the Duc d'Orléans had his coat of arms embossed on one hundred and thirty-three pieces and engraved on two hundred and five others, of which this dish is probably one.

This was just before his return from exile the following year and his inheritance from his mother of the large Penthievre-Orléans service, which he had restored by the Odiot firm.

Paris 1st title hallmark, first rooster (the only clear hallmark, the others imperfect) and Paris guarantee hallmark with man's head at vintage 85- 1798-1809. Paris silver trial hallmark with Greek woman's head, 1795-1797.
Finally, almost illegible goldsmith's hallmark except "J B" by Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot (1819-1826).
