Finger bowl from the service of Emperor Napoleon III
made of cobalt-blue Baccarat crystal engraved with the imperial cipher beneath a crown.
This small blown-glass vessel resting on a foot is engraved with the Emperor’s cipher, formerly gilded; it likely originates from the Baccarat crystalworks, as identical models without the cipher are attributed to that workshop.
A similar model, but more flared and made of white opaline, is held in the collections of the Château de Fontainebleau (donated by Mr. Alain Roger-Ravilly, F-2021.4.28.1).
Second Empire period.
Fairly good condition, with signs of wear on the surface and interior.
