An early 19th-century Coalport porcelain fruit cooler, circa 1810, decorated with cornflowers in red, puce, and gold, on a white ground, the liner absent.

Width (including handles): 24.5 cm
Identification: We have only seen this finial on Coalport examples, which typically did not carry any maker’s marks.
Condition: The liner, a bowl that would have been suspended over the ice, is absent. The condition is otherwise very good. There are a few tiny original firing flaws and light wear to the gilding of the rim.
