Pair Large Antique Japanese Meiji Period Bronze Koro Incense Burners.
A pair of large antique Japanese Meiji period bronze koro or incense burners on tripod legs, c.1900, with relief panels to front and back of a sage with attendants with stylized smoke to the sides, the lids with lion dog or kirin finials, the handles with birds’ tails and the bird’s head below. The tops of the legs also with stylized bird heads. There are holes in the underside of the lids to allow the incense smoke into the body of the kirin and out through its mouth.
