Early 19th-century French Dagoty Paris Porcelain Topographical Cup And Saucer, C.1810

Artist: Pierre-louis Dagoty
Pierre-Louis Dagoty (1771 - 1840): A hard-paste porcelain cup and saucer with wide, flared sides and an everted rim, with a C-scroll handle with bracket, raised on a circular foot. Circa 1810, the cup is decorated with a beautifully painted 360-degree panoramic landscape, with a band of gilded harebells on the inside below the rim, gilded rim, foot, and handle. The saucer is also decorated with a landscape and a matching band of gilded harebells, with a gilded rim, and an unglazed base.

Maker’s marks: Both unmarked. The shape (see references, below) and artistry leave no doubt that this is from the Dagoty factory, Paris.

Measurements:
Cup: Height to top of handle: 6.5 cm (2.6 in), Diameter of lip: 9.3 cm (3.7 in)
Saucer: Diameter: 13.3 cm (5.2 in), Height: 2.3 cm (0.9 in)

Condition report: The condition is excellent, with no cracks, chips or scratches. The cup has a small, circular, ungilded patch on the front of the handle. No other issues found. The saucer has light gilding wear at the rim and a small amount of wear to the foreground of the landscape. No other issues found. Both have been examined under ultraviolet light and no restoration was found.
