Pair Of Louis XIV Style Sconces In Patinated Bronze - Napoleon III Period, Beveled Mirrors
Elegant pair of Louis XIV-style wall sconces, made during the Napoleon III - Second Empire period.
Each sconce features an important openwork decoration in bronze with a medal patina, centered on a beveled circular mirror that comes to reflect the light from the three moving arms that make up the set.
The bronze work is particularly decorative, with a rich ornamental repertoire blending scrolls, foliage and masks in a spirit highly representative of Second Empire historicist taste. The finely curved light arms give the ensemble a beautiful mural presence and a very elegant balance.
The beveled antique mirrors offer a nice visual depth and enhance the luminous effect once the candles or bulbs are installed. The set retains a pleasant, warm and nuanced original medallion patina, which emphasizes the reliefs of the decor.
This pair of mirrors is currently available for sale.
This pair is currently non-electrified, in keeping with its current state of preservation, but full electrification to current standards can be carried out on request, at extra cost, by our workshop specializing in the restoration of antique lighting.
