Short Opium Pipe #3
Short pipe in bamboo and ivory*.
The bowl is set in a very handsome, well-worked and patinated ivory fist.
Well-decorated and signed gray stoneware hexagonal bowl.
The mouthpiece is in marbled black hardstone.
Short pipes were reserved for experienced smokers capable of smoking alone, without assistance (read the blog on lamalledugouverneur.com).
They are a little less prized by collectors than the long type, yet rarer and just as beautiful.

(*) Object manufactured before March 1, 1947 (CITES Convention) and comprising less than 20% ivory by volume, not subject to regulations concerning the ban on trade in elephant ivory (Orders of August 16, 2016 and May 4, 2017). Export outside the EU prohibited.
