Large Plate From The Shipwreck Off The Coast Of Binh Tuan (wanli Period)

Large plate (28.5 cm) made of Chinese porcelain from the Zhangzhou region (known as “Swatow”), featuring a distinctive foot with sand embedded in it, which prevented the piece from sticking to the bottom of the kiln (or firing chamber) during firing. The distinctive underglaze cobalt-blue decoration depicts a highly stylized Chinese phoenix surrounded by five cartouches with floral motifs.
In very good condition, with no cracks or chipping.
