Nomad Teapot, Central Asia, Repoussé Chased Brass, 19th Century, Collector's Condition
Artist: Art Tribal
Central Asian teapot and kettle from the 19th century.
This type of object is found in Central Asia, Pakistan and Iran.....
It's an emblematic object of nomadic cultures.
In very good condition with a beautiful patina.
The cylindrical body in the center is designed like a chimney.
It holds embers, keeping the tea hot, and the bottom is pierced with holes to allow the ashes to exit.
Akin to Russian samovars.
A simple and clever system.
This beautiful object is made of brass chased with antique tin-plated flowered niches.
It has a cylindrical body and bulbous base.
Posed on a high openwork pedestal, and topped by double domiform lids, one topped by a fretel, one for the passage of water, the other for the passage of embers.
The full "esse" moved handle is in cast brass.
Repousse decoration of lanceolate motifs and engraved floral mandorla.
Exceptional platinum.
Dimensions: Height: 34.5 cm (13.5") - width: 25 cm (10") - weight: 1577 grs
