Gothic Messenger Casket - 15th Century
Rectangular casket with a wooden core, covered in leather and reinforced with wrought-iron straps.
The lid operates on three hinges, one of which is no longer functional.
The contents of the casket were secured by a hasp which, when inserted into the lock, allowed it to be closed.
The interior has not undergone restoration and has retained its original integrity.
Despite some wear and minor losses of material due to use and the passage of time, this casket has remained in good condition.
