Pair Of Oil Paintings, Panels, Ch. Deshayes (1831-?), Signed And Dated Landscapes, Fontainebleau, Barbizon
Artist: Charles Deshayes (1831-?)
A very fine small pair of 19th-century oils on wood panel by Charles DESHAYES ( 1831-?), the first depicting an animated landscape with a fisherman, the second a study of rocks. In keeping with the characteristics of the Barbizon school, these panels exalt nature, vegetation and lighting effects. A pupil of François Louis FRANCAIS (1814-1897) and SENEQUIER, this painter made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1864. He became famous for his blended brushstrokes, his lighting effects at different times of day and his landscapes of Ile de France and Paris. This is a fine example. The panels are signed and dated 1887, and come with a small 19th-century gilded frame with a beautiful patina. Size of each panel: 18 x 22.5 cm (approx.)
