Sacred Flaming Heart In Sterling Silver, French Antique, Early 19th Century
Artist: Unknown
This medium-sized Sacred Flaming Heart in solid silver is a striking representation of divine love, sacrifice and devotion.
It is usually adorned with radiant flames, symbolizing Christ's ardent love for humanity. The flames, sometimes stylized in elongated or sinuous forms, lend the heart an ethereal, almost living quality. The silver retains some traces of gilding, a timeless beauty that makes it an ancient relic of faith.
In Catholic tradition, particularly in France, Spain and Latin America, Sacred Hearts were often displayed on altars or worn as protective amulets. This piece bears the initials "M" for Marie and a cross, symbols of devotion to the Virgin Mary, bringing the Sacred Heart closer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, whose iconography is similar. In this context, the flames could also represent Mary's maternal love and suffering, particularly in connection with Christ's sacrifice.
The object is marked on both sides. On the side adorned with flames: the words "Déposé" (copyright), the French boar hallmark and an unknown maker's mark. The other side bears only the French boar hallmark. Even the original ring has a tiny hallmark, and I also found a tiny hallmark representing the flames. Gold plated inside.
Height: 10.5 cm
Width: 5.6 cm
Used but invery good condition.
Thank you for visiting! Best regards, Ben
