Antique Framed Oil On Canvas, Bouquet Of Roses, Signed, Circa 1890-1910
Large and very beautiful antique oil on canvas, still life, depicting a generous bouquet of roses placed on an entablature, signed lower right, signature difficult to decipher, to identify "M/N. Saubagnol" (?)... French work late XIXᵉ early XXᵉ century. A notation "Salon 1910" appears on the back of the canvas, confirming a close presentation or dating.
The composition is rich, with deep tones and thick brushstrokes, in the tradition of academic floral still lifes of the Belle Époque. The painting is presented in a large original antique wood and stucco frame.
Total dimensions 57x69 cm frame, canvas alone 43x55cm. Very good overall condition, recent varnish, some minor wear and a visible scratch on the right side. In-house restoration for the frame, consolidated and repainted, with some elements reconstituted; the whole remains very decorative and coherent retaining elements of antiquity notably craquelures visible on the stucco but solidified. Weight approx. 2-3kg.
